Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a journalist, author, philanthropist, television host, and owner of The Huffington Post. She emigrated out of Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and obtained a MA at Cambridge University in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to hold the position of president in the prestigious debating group The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took on the role. Then she became a conservative syndicated writer after graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a few years after, she created an online platform for voice which offered critiques of political scenarios. The fame of her name helped in getting several high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts on politics news and culture. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 after she decided to run independently during the California recall vote to succeed the Governor Davis. Apart from this she also led a Detroit project that promoted vehicles that are fuel efficient. Forbes identified her the most powerful woman in media in 2009. The newspaper was ranked as 12th on the listing. The Guardian also included her to the list of top 100 media outlets in the year 2009. AOL, Inc. appointed her President of their media group in 2011, after they purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post was joined by other AOL brands like Engadget, AOLmusic Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos is the daughter of Konstantinos a management advisor and a journalist. Though she shared a close relationship with both her father and mother but it was their connection that helped shape her. Even as a young girl she displayed leadership qualities that she still is known for. At 16 years of age she relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. While in college and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the college debating societies which she later became the first foreign and female president. She graduated in 1972 with an advanced degree in Economics. The career of TV host and journalist began after she graduated. The appearance she made in Face the music with Bernard Levin was a notable one. She started writing books, taking his help for editing.
