April Ross

April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball stars to capture medals at multiple Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days, she'll try to net her third medal alongside fellow first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. But more than that, Ross is aiming to capture their first Olympic gold. It could be her final chance to win an Olympic gold medal. However, she remains optimistic that most prestigious prizes are in reach. Ross said on NBC Boston that he believes if they play their most effective, and even play an excellent game, we will win the gold. And, I'm also going have a chance to try my hand at luck. Ross Born in 1982, and grew up within Costa Mesa California with her sisters and parents, was the first to begin participating in sports during her time at Newport Harbor High. Ross played in numerous sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. In addition to indoor volleyball, she played track and basketball as professional athletes. She was definitely the top in the game of indoor volleyball. According to her biography, she was a middle blocker, as well as an outside hitter on the volleyball court during her time in high school. Her efforts were recognized by her selection as the 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions' National Players of the Year. Her skills in volleyball earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Even though Ross and Klineman are a couple since 2017, the former was already an established player on the beach scene even before the pair formed. In reality, she was the winner of many major events playing two partners. One that is also famous for her volleyball skills. Between 2007 and 2013, she was partnered with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Kessy and Ross were extremely successful on the world stage, claiming their first world title in 2009. The duo eventually captured one silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor took home gold ahead of them. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's exit. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a player for the Trojans from USC during the years of college after graduating from in high school. The USC experience was exceptional. In 2000, she was awarded Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year, and was also an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans reach the Final Four. The second season of her career, she suffered a devastating personal loss, yet was successful in being named an All-American. In her last two seasons in the program she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain, winning consecutive national championships. She was a fantastic volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the college's top female volleyball player. Ross was a major in international relations at USC. Margie Ross did not see her daughter rise to the top in beach volleyball. Ross's mom Margie passed away in the year 2001. Ross was still an USC sophomore. It was discovered that she had breast cancer. Ross is still awed by the memory of her parent. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration to her, both in and out on the beach.
