April Ross

April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball athletes to capture medals at multiple Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic medal with Alix Klineman. She is a one time Olympian. More than that though Ross is aiming to capture her very first Olympic gold. At 39 this may be her last chance do so. Her confidence is high and confident, but. If we perform at our very best or even really well, I believe we'll win the gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. In addition, I'm hoping to have some chance. Ross, who was born 1982, and grew up in Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began competing in sports at the Newport Harbor High school. At Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous athletics. She competed in basketball and tracks in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a prep athlete. She was definitely the top in the game of indoor volleyball. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her college bio. The honor was conferred to her by in the category of Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999, for her performance. She was also awarded the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Even though Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight since 2017, the former was already an established player on the beach scene prior to their team. Her name has appeared in major competitions with a variety of partners. One of them has become a legend in the world of volleyball. Between 2007 until 2013, she was a team along with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be an impressive force on the world of professional sports, winning their first world title in 2009. The duo eventually captured a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold ahead of them. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor decided to retire. The two went on win the bronze medal in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross participated in the USC Trojans in high school after she finished in high school. In fact, her time in the Trojans' ranks was quite impressive. The Trojans were an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year in 2000. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans reach in the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she went through a heartbreaking personal loss but still managed to win an All-American. Through her final two years with the Trojans the team, she played a key role in helping to win two consecutive titles. Ross was an excellent volleyball player and won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female college volleyball player. Ross was a International Relations major at USC. However, Ross mother Margie never got to see her daughter rise to the most elite levels of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross suffered the loss of her mother to breast cancer in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She still holds her mother very dearly. Margie continues to be an inspiration at the beach and in all her lives.
